I’d encourage you to have it mechanically inspected; there are several places here in the Valpo area who can inspect it for you Monday - Sunday. An inspection will confirm the excellent shape of my Suburban/Raft.
It’s named the “RAFT”, with its traveling vision of Freedom, and “Adventures of Huck Finn Floating”. I used it for traveling around the US while writing 2 Novels, 1 book of Short Stories, and 2 Economic/Political Documentary Education books, over the past 18 months. I’m preparing to head to Thailand and just can’t take the Raft with me.
It needs nothing and is ready to Float or travel wherever you seek to find your personal adventure and freedom. The body paint is very good, with the normal GM Hood problems, but I’ve found it provides for less attention or interest to would be security problems.
2003 Raft/Suburban Spec’s and Equipment added:
+ Production years 2000-2006, Best GM V-8 & Transmission combination with service providing for 300K – 400K miles, and fully loaded with personal gear, delivering 21.4 to 22.3 MPG on the highway.
+ Newer All Terrain Tires, New shocks, New brakes & rotors front, brakes rear, transmission & cooling system flushed.
+ Front Bucket seats, center council, Power: Driver seat, windows, locks with alarm system, tilt steering, cruise control, AM/FM/CD player, New headliner and Dash cover. A/C & Heat works great.
+Added: Garmin Navigation/cell phone hands free Bluetooth connected. Rear windows privacy tint, & 4 Window vent shades, plus 2nd row windows slip on screens.
+Added: PRIMO 6-gallon freshwater system with electrical pump rechargeable. NEW never used 1,300-gallon, emergency water purifying system gravity fed. NEW Fold-up potty never used.
+Added Electrical Power: NEW 100W 9.5B solar panel, connected to NEW Pecron 614W Power Station which powers – NEW 28qt Refrigerator, Computer, 10” Fan, charges all lighting, phone and entertainment items.
+Added 9gal Propane tank, 6’ stainless steel line & regulator with fill status. Coleman 10” single burner stove. 13,000BTU WAVE catalytic safety heater & dual propane tank supply valve.
+Added: Stow-Away rear hitch mounted, with side swing out for full access to rear of Suburban storage access and allows for pull out rear drawers/ serving as cooking area when camped.
+Rear & side privacy curtains, which maintain front seat area as “Normal appearance” unit.
+Rear conversion area side storage: Headliner removed, added Roof & Side window Insulation. Indoor/outdoor & wood trim roof.
+Rear driver side Pantry & Clothing storage (10 days stored in plastic storage bags). Plus 2 padded floor storage for Miscellaneous items & 1st aid kit, and 2 rechargeable reading lights.
+Rear passenger side Entertainment area for computer/DVD’s/Books, personal clean up gear, and 3 rechargeable reading lights, and storage.
+Rear conversion Floor platform area with 2 – 2’x3’ storage drawers (rear access) and 2 – 2’x2’ storage drawers (front/interior access).
+6” memory foam mattress, folding 3 pieces with washable cover. Rear back hatch with screening, magnet secured. The rear hatch can be slightly opened for air flow without unlocking or resecuring “Stow-Away” hitch mounted storage box.
+Added miscellaneous travel gear: Folding Chair – 2 Tarps for shade – 2 folding shovels – 1 hand axe – 1 folding hand saw – 1 Passenger rear side full door netting – 1 Stainless Steel boiling pot – 1 set 2 qtr. WHY and older Suburban? Simply the driving comfort and it appears to be nothing more than an old passenger vehicle & NOT a camper. So boondocking is a breeze when needed or desired. It’s fully set up and is 100% road ready.
