The Chicago Bears have reportedly lined up some one-on-one time with Penn State star tight end Tyler Warren.

Troy Pauline reports that the Bears are one of a handful of teams that Tyler Warren will have private workouts with ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. This news comes after Warren declined to do workouts at Penn State’s recent pro day.

In his latest at Sportskeeda, Pauline reports the Bears, Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints as teams that have private workouts scheduled with the projected first-round pick. Of those teams listed above, only the Jets and Saints are slotted to pick ahead of Chicago’s football team. If the Jets and Saints are threats to take Tyler Warren before the Bears pick, then perhaps we should make note of the Chargers, Colts, and Rams as teams that plan on working out Warren and possibly consider them as potential trade-back partners for Bears General Manager Ryan Poles if he is available when Chicago goes on the clock. Just some food for thought.

2025 NFL Draft: Is Tyler Warren a fit for the Chicago Bears at pick No. 10?

Penn State tight end Tyler Warren is one of the most intriguing prospects who could be on the board when the Bears go on the clock with the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Checking in at 6-foot-5 and 256 pounds, the Nittany Lions standout is a multi-faceted offensive threat whose presence could add some wrinkles to the Bears’ offense under the direction of head coach/play-caller Ben Johnson. Traditionally, it is tough to implement a rookie tight end into an offense. But perhaps Warren’s skill set and athleticism could make it easier to get a first-year player involved early and often.

THIS ESPN MOCK DRAFT MAKES A BEARS-TYLER WARREN CONNECTION

Tyler Warren ended his college career at Penn State with a bang. Check out this list of 2024 stats and accomplishments:

  • 104 catches
  • 1,233 receiving yards
  • 26 carries
  • 218 rushing yards
  • 12 total touchdowns (8 receiving, 4 rushing)
  • John Mackey Award
  • Big Ten Tight End of the Year
  • First-team All-Big Ten
  • First-team All-American

He also pulled off this feat in a game against USC this past season:

He caught the ball 17 times.
He ran the ball.
He threw the ball.
He snapped the ball.

In many years, using a top-10 pick on a tight end would be frowned upon in many circles. But in a draft that doesn’t have a ton of elite prospects among the skill position players and in a year in which the Bears will not be forced to draft for need early, you don’t have to work hard to make a case for Chicago to select Penn State’s Tyler Warren with the 10th overall pick. Unless the Bears get a worthwhile offer to trade back, the Bears shouldn’t hesitate to turn in the draft card with Warren’s name on it if the team goes on the clock and Warren is on the board and is the best available player.

With that being said, I hope the Bears are casting a wide net in terms of what they are willing to do with the 10th pick. I am all for staying with the 10th selection if the team has conviction in a particular prospect. But I am open to the team trading back and collecting more draft picks, especially if this front office can snag a future first-round pick if someone else’s general manager is desperate enough to move up and do so. Whether it is a pick for the offense or defense, Chicago could go in a number of directions that would be seen as a good use of the pick.

No matter which direction the Bears go in on the first night of the 2025 NFL Draft, I hope this will be their last time picking in the top-10 for a while.
